My Story

Living_North_Mag_Edit_6_edited_edited_ed

Growing up, I have always loved creating art pieces, this led me to choose art as one of my GCSE's; from here, I discovered my talent and passion for textiles. I chose to complete an Extended Diploma in Textile Design, where I learnt various techniques in detail such as embroidery, screen printing and digital printing. This enabled me to find my niche, which I have been constantly improving throughout my time at university. Initially, I attended a university away from my home town; this was not the best experience for me and I had started to consider working in a completely different industry to the one I have always been so passionate about. Despite this, I didn't give up and searched for options to allow me to gain my love for textiles and fashion again. This resulted in me transferring to a university closer to home to finish my final year, which was the best decision I could have made, as I achieved a First Class Honours in Fashion Design with Promotion. During this year, I further enhanced my sewing, pattern cutting, printing and overall design and research development skills to a level where I can confidently and mindfully create my own products. Additionally, I gained in depth knowledge on how to set up a successful business, which has allowed me to follow my dreams of creating my own brand.

Sustainability
My final major project at university has hugely influenced my desire to encourage sustainability through homeware, whilst being colourful and unique. My inspiration has always been nature, due to the benefits it has on my mental health and I believe it's vital for me to respect the environment when creating products that are heavily influenced by it. This is why my products will always be made using organic materials and the best possible production processes, for example, I digitally print my designs instead of screen printing, which involves more harmful chemicals. As a consumer, I value transparency from other brands, therefore, it is important to me that I state what fabric/threads/processes I have used to create products. I currently make my cushion pads from 100% cotton with a recycled polyester filling, which is made from recycled plastic water bottles. The cover fabric varies and will be stated in the description of each piece along with the thread used. All products are machine stitched by me.

Bespoke Option
I am able to produce products specific to customers' needs providing the idea fits in with my values and overall design outlook. Just drop me an email below and I will be able to discuss this process.
